Government Gateway - Register Now!

In 2017, the Government introduced significant reforms to the system through which businesses or individuals liable for non-domestic rates (or ‘business rates’) are able to challenge the valuation of their property. The new framework, which came into force from April 2017, is commonly referred to as ‘Check, Challenge, Appeal’ (CCA) – reflecting the new three-stage appeals process

Before we can make an appeal on your behalf, ratepayers must be registered on the Government Gateway which you can do; either Online or by appointing us as a ‘Trusted Helper.

Online

By accessing https://www.gov.uk/correct-your-business-rates you can use your existing HMRC User ID and Password to login. From here you can:

  1. Claim your property/properties
  2. Appoint us as agents using our code 37363

If you do not have a HMRC account you will have to create an account and provide your personal National Insurance number, passport number and home address. Once this information has been verified, you will be given a username and password.

Once you have registered and appointed us as your agent please let us know as it will not be immediately evident to us.

Then scan or post it back with a copy of your rates or utility bill. This will give us the authority to undertake the administration and registration on your behalf.
